We’re looking for a sharp, story-driven Scriptwriter to join our SenovvA Canada freelance team. In this role, you’ll craft documentary-style videos and corporate narratives for a wide range of clients—turning real human stories, company missions, and complex business insights into engaging films.
Under the direction of our Creative Director, you’ll dive into pre-interviews, develop story outlines and pre-scripts, steer live on-set conversations, and pull all those interview pieces together into clear, compelling scripts.
If you possess a strong journalistic or documentary sensibility, know how to authentically connect with people, and are passionate about emotionally resonant filmmaking—we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate closely: Understand SenovvA’s storytelling methodology, and work with our Creative Director and Producer to make sure every story hits the right tone while meeting our clients’ goals.
- Uncover the Story: Conduct pre-interviews with individuals to pinpoint key themes, personal moments, and story arcs before the cameras roll; research and understand a variety of topics.
- Lead On-Set Interviews: Attend local and out-of-town shoots to conduct engaging, natural interviews that get interviewees talking candidly in front of the camera.
- Craft the Script: Turn unscripted interview footage and transcripts into clear, compelling documentary-style scripts; write engaging scripts for narration, motion design, and call-to-actions.
What We’re Looking For
- Documentary Sensibility: A strong eye (and ear) for unscripted, non-fiction storytelling that feels authentic and human—never canned or overly salesy.
- Corporate Comfort: Experience working with or writing for corporate clients, business leaders, testimonials, or brand campaigns.
- Interviewing Skill: Ability to ask insightful questions both during pre-interview calls and on set; being able to listen, letting answers flow, and make nervous subjects feel at ease.
- Available to Travel: Have a car, and be able to travel to shoots within the GTA and beyond.
