SenovvA joined the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS team as a proud sponsor of the 25th Annual Broadway Bares: Top Bottoms of Burlesque, featuring 222 of New York’s sexiest and most talented dancers. The show entertained two standing-room-only performances at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, on Sunday, June 21, 2015. The evening offered a bawdy Broadway Bares spin to the classic Broadway Musical, 42nd Street – the story of a bright-eyed ingénue looking to make it big on the “Great White Way”. The event raised a record shattering $1,598,501 for BC/EFA. Watch Highlights
SenovvA provided five display walls of WinVision 1875 LED tiles along with the expertise of our LED/media server technician, Andy Kulhavy. The LED displayed content developed by Broadway’s top designers: Jason Courson, Brad Peterson, Caite Hevner Kemp, Michael Clark, Ray Lee, Aaron Rhymes, and Brian Beasley.
Producing Director Valerie Lau-Kee Lai and an extraordinary staff led this year’s Broadway Bares 25, in honor of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Production Stage Manager, Eric Insko, conducted a team of 11 stage managers and more than 700 volunteers behind the scenes, to create the show. Joel Shier served as Lighting Designer; Nevin Steinberg handled Sound Design; and the show’s Scenic Designers were David Arsenault and Steven Royal.
“There was a fantastic sense of camaraderie while watching this show come together with such talented professionals who donate so much of their time. They enthusiastically provided creative technology in support of the celebration, thus becoming a critical part of helping to raise over a million dollars for a cause that is very close to our hearts, and exactly where we want to be in helping to make a difference.” – SenovvA’s Arianna Knapp
This year’s electrifying onstage spectacular featured a colorful cast of characters that included special guest appearances by Laverne Cox “Orange is the New Black”, Bianca Del Rio “Ru Paul’s Drag Race”, four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, two-time Tony winner Judith Light, Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita and two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber.
The very first event began with just eight dancers performing at New York’s Splash Bar in 1992, and has since cultivated into what it is today, as Broadway Bares has now raised $14.3 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Broadway Bares’ two-time Tony Award-winning creator and Executive Producer Jerry Mitchell returned to the director’s chair for this year’s extravaganza with his co-director, Nick Kenkel, who expertly helmed the previous two editions of the one night only event. Stripathon, an online fundraiser by the show’s cast and crew, raised a record $581,725, further fueling the overall success.
“Thank you so much for your generosity for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and for Broadway Bares 25: Top Bottoms of Burlesque. With your presence, we gain a certain gravitas that brings the best and brightest in the industry to come and volunteer their time. We are ever grateful and look forward to doing this with you again next year!” – Producing Director, Valerie Lau-Kee Lai
