Dave Taylor and Eric Leverton managed the installation of 360 degrees of LED and projection systems, immersing the audience in a musical spectacular. The show featured inspiring performances by Robin Thicke and Usher, each with a unique display technology.
Production Designer, Brian Stonestreet and Art Director, Kristen Merlino, created an impactful environment that supported performances, acceptance speeches, and Chris Rock’s high-energy monologues. Dave Taylor worked with Screens Producers, Allan Wells and Drew Findley, to insure that each projector, LED wall, blade, and curtain were utilized to their maximum capacity.
“We used Martin LC 2140 and 1140 display special, Revolution Display Blades, Everbrighten 5mm, and WinVision. It took five full days to complete the entire LED installation. Every surface at the Nokia Theatre had something installed, from the balcony rails, to the queen’s boxes. We even had Revolution X15 in the floor for Robin Thicke”, said Eric Leverton.
Highlights of the evening included a tribute to Lionel Richie, performances by John Legend, a throw-back to the 90’s with Color Me Badd, and Jennifer Hudson’s energizing performance of “Walks It Out”. There were many performances throughout the three-hour plus broadcast that highlighted the variety of artists and celebrities being honored at the BET Awards.
BET Network expanded the celebration with the second annual BET Experience at LA Live, which included sponsorships by Coca-Cola, Xbox, Target, Nissan, Sprite and more. SenovvA’s team, led by Brian Tracy, delivered a three-sided LED display that hung above the BET Experience action, running the full broadcast on Sunday night for over-flow audiences.
