2013 was a year of growth and expansion for SenovvA, including the founding of our new company in Toronto, Canada headed up by General Manager Dave Crainford. Our Canadian office kicked off the year by managing technical production for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Press Event, in partnership with OSK Marketing & Communications.
Our East Coast Team, led by Tristan Valencia, continued to build on its 2012 banner year. The year 2013 included the move to a new office space in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn’s growing Tech Triangle. This relocation allows us to house our expanding staff and daily operations along with creating a proper home for the SenovvA Pre-Visualization Studio. Our East Coast office continues to evolve and craft SenovvA’s scope of services, with an eye towards how to best serve our clients both domestically and internationally.
The SenovvA Broadcast Team, under Frank McMinn’s leadership, continued our long partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Our work on the 2013 Oscar’s telecast and nominations press event reached a domestic audience of 40.3 million homes and a global audience of 1.3 billion viewers across 225 territories. Other major broadcast events brought us into an additional 58.4 million homes with: The Primetime Emmy Awards; The Kids Choice Awards; The MTV Movie Awards; The Billboard Music Awards; The BET Awards; McDonald’s 365 Black Awards; and The American Country Awards; to name a just few. Senior Technical Directors Dave Taylor, Marcus Irwin and Walt De Jong managed teams that provided production services featured on virtually every major network including: ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, MTV, BET, Nickelodeon & Discovery Channels.
In 2013, the Theatrical Division started in Los Angeles with a visually and aurally intense production of “Backbeat” at the Ahmanson. Working alongside KnifeEdge Productions of London, we provided video and projection supervision for the show, which was directed by David Leveaux. We followed that by joining the producing team of “Lucky Guy”, starring Tom Hanks, for a 20 week run at the Broadhurst Theater on Broadway. Arianna Knapp continued to provide Artistic Direction and consulting for the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, MA and Theatre by the Sea in Rhode Island, opening ten shows this year alone. In the fall, we collaborated with the Huntington Theater Company in Boston, as sponsors and also providing video system and media servers for the fantastic, thought provoking, new play directed by Peter DuBois and media design by Aaron Rhyne, called “The Power of Duff”.
Our Systems Group led by Curtis Kelly continued to build their team with the addition of Project Managers Sean Tarantino and Coty Shipe, joining Senior Project Manager Fred Jacobo and BIM/VDC Manager Adam Lega. This year, the team provided a solutions-focused approach to systems design for clients like Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, Agency Walton Isaacson and various “special projects” for Google. In addition, the Systems Group supported our Broadcast, Theatrical and Corporate / Industrial Events Division, while also creating a unified approach to Advanced Development Projects (ADP). Launched this year, ADP SenovvA is a creative branch of innovative workshops and laboratories, each showcasing a unique perspective and diverse service scope to our industry.
Our Corporate / Industrial & Special Events Group handled everything from an eye-popping Heli-Expo booth on behalf of Manufacturer AustaWestland, to the North American Press Drive Series for Mercedes-Benz, AMG, & Smart Car. From product launches for MAC Cosmetics, to screenings for DreamWorks around the world, to Elton John’s Annual Oscars Viewing Party, SenovvA producers and designers had a very busy year. To assist in our continuing expansion, we’ve added Veteran Producer Steve Nider and Business Development Manager Karl Lengel to the company ranks this year.
SenovvA continues to provide answers to our clients’ individual needs, thriving on the challenges that come our way. We look forward to strengthening our relationships with both existing and new clients in the coming years. I’m very proud of the people that make up SenovvA and what our company represents to the many industries we support and deliver for. Have a great 2014 everyone!
K Lee Harvey, Founder & CEO SenovvA.
